City of Glass

A hugely ambitious mid-scale theatre production, this was the first experiment in 59 leading on the creation of its own work, as opposed to being bought in as guns for hire by clients. This major pivot for the business led on to brilliant new opportunities, including the opening of 59's own venue, Lightroom in Kings Cross, in 2022 in partnership with the London Theatre Company. 

City of Glass was adapted from the Paul Auster novel, with the writer himself engaged in the process of adaptation, which was brilliantly delivered by Duncan MacMillan. Technically ambitious, visually stunning and hypnotic, the production wowed London audiences and critics.
