To discuss projects/consulting/coaching
I conceived of and created the Young Vic short film programme with my Director of Marketing (at the time) colleague Alan Stacey. We worked in close collaboration with the Young Vic's Artistic Director, David Lan, to develop an ethos behind the films that matched perfectly with the wider mission of the theatre: the story for each film was spun out from a main stage play, and each provided an opportunity for the artists involved to try something they had never done before. This was often leading theatre directors, or actors, trying their hand at directing films for the first time.
We forged a partnership with the Guardian who provided in-kind editing service, releasing each film on their homepage to 50,000+ people. As well as leading on the wider strategy for the programme, I produced a number of the films themselves. The image above is taken from Connection, one of the films in the series, starring Jude Law and made in collaboration with the Belarus Free Theatre. Other films included Mayday, directed by Natalie Abrahami and starring Juliet Stevenson; Colombite Tantalite, written and directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor; and The Departure, directed by and starring Gillian Anderson.
